Background
Calbindin-D-28K (also known as vitamin D-dependant calcium binding protein) belongs to a family of low molecular weight calcium-binding proteins (CaBPs). Calbindin-D-28K is found mostly in subpopulations of central and peripheral nervous system nuerons and also in certain epithelial cells involved in Ca2+ transport.
