|Calculated MW||14719 Da|
|Application & Usage||Western Blot analysis (0.5-4 µg/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. Recombinant human FABP4 can be used as a positive control.|
|Other Names||Fatty acid-binding protein, Adipocyte lipid-binding protein, ALBP, Adipocyte-type fatty acid-binding protein, A-FABP, AFABP, Fatty acid-binding protein 4, FABP4, FABP-4|
|Formulation||100 µg (0.5 mg/ml) affinity purified rabbit anti-human FABP4 polyclonal antibody in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA, 5mM EDTA and 0.01% thimerosal.|
|Handling||The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.|
|Reconstitution & Storage||-20 °C|
|Precautions||FABP4 Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Lipid transport protein in adipocytes. Binds both long chain fatty acids and retinoic acid. Delivers long-chain fatty acids and retinoic acid to their cognate receptors in the nucleus (By similarity).|
|Cellular Location||Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Note=Depending on the nature of the ligand, a conformation change exposes a nuclear localization motif and the protein is transported into the nucleus. Subject to constitutive nuclear export (By similarity)|

Provided below are standard protocols that you may find useful for product applications.
Fatty Acid-binding Proteins (FABP) are a family of homologous 14-15 kDa cytoplasmic proteins that are expressed in highly tissue-specific manner and play an integral role in the balance between lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. FABPs have been reported to be involved in the uptake and metabolism of fatty acids, maintenance of cellular membrane fatty acids levels, intracellular trafficking, modulation of specific enzymes of lipid metabolic pathways, as well as in the modulation of cell growth and differentiation.
