|Other Names||N-acylglucosamine 2-epimerase, AGE, GlcNAc 2-epimerase, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine 2-epimerase, Renin-binding protein, RnBP, RENBP|
|Format||Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.|
|Precautions||This product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Catalyzes the interconversion of N-acetylglucosamine to N-acetylmannosamine. Binds to renin forming a protein complex called high molecular weight (HMW) renin and inhibits renin activity. Involved in the N-glycolylneuraminic acid (Neu5Gc) degradation pathway: although human is not able to catalyze formation of Neu5Gc due to the inactive CMAHP enzyme, Neu5Gc is present in food and must be degraded.|

Provided below are standard protocols that you may find useful for product applications.
The gene product inhibits renin activity by forming adimer with renin, a complex known as high molecular weight renin.The encoded protein contains a leucine zipper domain, which isessential for its dimerization with renin. The gene product cancatalyze the interconversion of N-acetylglucosamine toN-acetylmannosamine, indicating that it is a GlcNAc 2-epimerase.Transcript variants utilizing alternative promoters have beendescribed in the literature.
