UDP-glucuronate decarboxylase (UGD; EC 126.96.36.199) catalyzesthe formation of UDP-xylose from UDP-glucuronate. UDP-xylose isthen used to initiate glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis on the coreprotein of proteoglycans.
