This gene encodes a hemopoietic cytokine proposed tosignal through a heterodimeric receptor complex composed of thethymic stromal lymphopoietin receptor and the IL-7R alpha chain. Itmainly impacts myeloid cells and induces the release of Tcell-attracting chemokines from monocytes and enhances thematuration of CD11c(+) dendritic cells. Alternative splicing ofthis gene results in two transcript variants.
