This gene encodes a neuronal-specific member of thetropomodulin family of actin-regulatory proteins. The encodedprotein caps the pointed end of actin filaments preventing bothelongation and depolymerization. The capping activity of thisprotein is dependent on its association with tropomyosin.Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding differentisoforms have been described.
