Background

This gene encodes a member of the doublecortin family. Theprotein encoded by this gene contains two doublecortin domains. Thedoublecortin domain has been demonstrated to bind tubulin andenhance microtubule polymerization. Alternatively splicedtranscript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found forthis gene.
