Background

This gene encodes a member of a large protein family whichcontains the LIM domain, a unique cysteine-rich zinc-bindingdomain. The encoded protein may function as a transcriptionalregulator and be involved in control of differentiation anddevelopment of the pituitary gland. Mutations in this gene areassociated with syndromic short stature and pituitary and hindbraindefects. An alternative splice variant has been described but itsbiological nature has not been determined.
