Background
Found in human serum at 60 mg per 100 ml. This protein is a negative acute-phase reactant. Clinically, concentrations are reduced in cancer patients. AHSG levels are positively correlated with gestational diabetes and negatively correlated with neonatal skeletal development. Studies show AHSG to be present at high concentrations in the peritoneal fluids of patients with endometriosis.
